Creative Club – Who are we?

We are a fun, creative and supportive group of women in the Collingwood and Blue Mountain area who get together regularly to explore and appreciate the arts through workshops, activities & events. Like a book club except we are focused on sharing our creative initiatives or interests and supporting and encouraging creative exploration among our members.

We have an online WhatsApp chat group and a calendar of events, as well as occasional get togethers suggested ad hoc.

Types of Activities that we will post on our calendar:

  • Informal ‘workshops’ hosted and led by a member (not necessarily an expert teacher but an opportunity to try new mediums or approaches)
  • Specially arranged paid workshops with a qualified instructor, at their facilities or ours
  • Possibly regularly scheduled gatherings (monthly, biweekly) to work on projects and share progress (eg. knitting, embroidery, sketching, painting, etc.)
  • Public events like gallery openings, shows, studio tours, arts and craft shows, lavender farm visit, or outdoor festival, often followed by a social get together
  • Pre-arranged “Studio Tour” followed by lunch or dinner (usually a special visit to an artists’ studio for our group as opposed to a public event)

Typically public events are open-ended in terms of how many can attend; whereas hosted workshops will have a maximum number of participants (typically 5-10 depending on venue and materials). So we will offer them on a first come, first serve basis. If a workshop is not filled one week prior to the event, we could invite other friends or interested parties to participate.

To join the club at this point would require a referral from a member. We are not actively trying to grow but always welcome like-minded people to join us on our creative journey.

Workshops and Events that will be posted to the calendar should have the following elements:

  1. A member who is either hosting or organizing the event, communicating to the group
  2. Location, Date and Time established
  3. Costs and/or materials required
  4. Identify minimum number to hold event, maximum number that can be accommodated
  5. Deadline for sign-ups, after which we may invite others
  6. If we get hit with another pandemic/lockdown, can you run this over zoom or would it be cancelled?
